about me

Here are some pertinent facts and some frivolous information as well:
-
I live in Youngstown, Ohio with my wife Susan and two adorable dogs.
-
We have two adult children in whom I take great pride knowing they are pursuing impressive careers in their areas of interest.
-
I served local churches (in Massachusetts and Ohio) as pastor for over 27 years.
-
Ordained in the United Church of Christ in 1984.
-
Ordained in the Evangelical Covenant Church in 2010.
-
Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
-
No, Duffy is not my given name. I am officially Rev. David B. Roberts. But who calls me that?
-
Graduate of Los Alamos High School, Brandeis University (BA in Linguistics) and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (MDiv).
-
My first on stage appearance was at the age of 13 in the Don Juan Playhouse production of "The Clown Who Ran Away". (I played the villian Rudolph Bernard Boo.)
-
Acting credits also include "The Curse of the Coffin Nails", "Bye Bye Birdie" and "The Matchmaker". And most recently "Get Smart" at the Crown Theatre in Columbiana, Ohio.
-
My favorite Broadway musical is "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat". Or maybe "The Music Man". Or "My Fair Lady". Or actually "Fiddler on the Roof" is hard to beat. I like "Annie" a lot, too. Actually I saw "Hamilton" in Cleveland recently and all I can say is: "Superb!"
-
Currently I am semi-retired and still working somewhat as a Direct Service Professional for adults who are developmentally disabled. I get to love people all day long.
-
Otherwise. I fill my days working on video projects such as "Video Epistles", various writing projects, leading online discussions of writings by Christian mystics and making sawdust in my workshop.
